1) We bought the house. We signed the paperwork yesterday and pending any weird stuff popping up in the inspections, we'll be happy homeowners by month's end. If you wish to hear why I required not one, but TWO showers yesterday, feel free to read my post at the Mom Street Journal about getting our mortgage all sorted out after the bottom fell out of the secondary mortgage market. Good times!
2) Genoa doesn't appear to be allergic to dairy (as evidenced by the photos below). She also doesn't appear to want to SLEEP either. I got a lot of basically the same response to my post about her not sleeping and here's my two cents: I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. The child is working me. It's no secret that I'm her bitch.
If I wasn't so afraid that the neighbors would call the police, she'd have been left to her own devices MONTHS ago. As it is, when she wakes up screaming, it sounds like someone is removing her fingernails one-by-one with a pair of rusty pliers and I can hear her all the way down the hall through two closed doors and the white noise of two oscillating fans plus the noisy bathroom vent. She's ridiculously loud.
As soon as we're in the house, I'll be putting her in her crib at 8PM and refusing to go back into her room until the sun comes up. It might take a couple of weeks, but the child will eventually figure out that NIGHT TIME IS FOR SLEEPING. Until then, I'm co-sleeping with her on an air mattress on her bedroom floor, just so I can keep my eyes open long enough to function during the day.
3) I figured out why my boobs hurt so much! I got my period on Saturday. Woo-hoo. It's actually not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. After almost two years without it, I was expecting a horror movie and thanks to my hormone-laden IUD, it's really more of a comedy. I can't complain. I just know now to expect some discomfort nursing while I'm ovulating, is all.
Yea! Congrats on the house! Welcome to home ownership! (I'll meet you in the bar when the mortgage bill comes, K?)
And, hello Brilliant! Of course you will be able to establish YOUR routines when you move into your very own house. Isn't it great that things went thru on the white house--- now you have an endpoint to your night time woes (hopefully!).
Way to go on making a 'do what works' plan and knowing you can leave the serious training business till you're moved in.
I knew there was a reason I love reading you!

Oh, I forgot to add, if your IUD experience is anything like mine, be prepared to say "BUH-Bye!" to your little comedy!!! No unplanned pregnancies and no period here--- can I get a Yee-Haw?!?!?!

Yeah! Congrats on the house...
Same exact situation with the sleeping thing. Only my youngest was a terrific sleeper, we moved to an apt., hit a horrific rough patch - up hundreds of times a night, screaming, screaming, screaming, etc...
Moved to a house 4 months ago...let her cry a little the first night, and the rest is history. Very few nights since have I even had to go into her room. Sleeps like a baby (ha ha ha!) 7:30-7:30 now. And if she does wake up a little at night, she gets herself back to sleep within minutes. So beautiful. I really, really am hoping the same will happen with little G. You deserve a break and some serious sleep!
Congrats again on the house!

HURRAY FOR YOU! That is awesome! I can't wait for you to start talking about decorating your new house!!
I hope Genoa doesn't take weeks to sleep through the night! I don't think it will take that long.
The IUD? Is amazing. I have had mine for almost two years. I love it. And my period is gone! The best part if you ask me!!

Congratulations on the house! It sounds wonderful. The best part about most of the things you want to do to it are that they can be done by you! I love easy cosmetic changes. They make such a big difference, too.
Happy for you!

First off, congratulations on the house! That is so exciting!
Second, I read your post about the mortgage situation at Mom Street Journal. I just had a couple of questions - I know you talked about wanting to invest your money elsewhere instead of putting it all into real estate, but with the mortgage rate being high (10.2%) you would need to be putting it into investments that earn more than that to make it worth it. Otherwise you are paying more interest than you are earning, right?
Also (and this is a curiosity question), do you think that the market is going to adjust and the interest rate go down? Up here (in Canada) we are getting ready to negotiate our mortgage rate again, as it is almost up, and we don't see it coming down for awhile. We're getting the feeling that the market is about to go through a major correction (even without the sub-prime market disaster), and that interest rates are only going to go up and stay up. Just curious your take on this...

The market will adjust and rates will go down because the federal government will throw money at it until they do. Congratulations! I know you totally did, but you made sure there's no pre-payment penalty, yes?
Enjoy your time in the master bedroom, sweet Sister. For your reckoning draws ever near.
