In case I look back ten years from now with the same unbridled curiosity I currently have for the year 2000, let it be said that Dave and I toasted in the New Year with a $3.99 bottle of Korbel Brut, having paused to watch the ball drop mid-way through the movie Paranormal Activity, which scared the ever-loving crap out of all three of us, my sister included. We then spent the first day of the year un-showered and unkempt, gnawing our way through a vat of leftover homemade cashew chicken, alternating between playing Wii with the kids, reading (online or onKindle) and sneaking upstairs to "talk" and/or nap.
Not a bad start to the decade if you ask me.
I'm thinking a lot about my resolutions for this year and decidedly trying to avoid calling them resolutions. So far, I've come up with a few:
1. Cash: make it.
2. Fiction: sell it. Then write more of it.
3. Blog: get better at it. (ie: get off my ass and start responding to comments again.)
4. Ass: reduce it. (I gained 17 pounds in 2009; in 2010 I'd like to say goodbye to them.) (My ONLY plan is this: move more, DRINK less. No diets for this girl.)
5. Read: just as many romance novels, but significantly more literary/mainstream fiction.
6. Kids: read to them more consistently and hit the library weekly.
7. Husband: do him, preferably on cruise-liner.
8. Music: listen to more of it, preferably LIVE and with my sister.
9. House: keep it.
10. Friends: see them more often.
What are your resolutions? Anything I've forgotten?

I am scared to see that movie! We were going to see it in the theater, then bailed because Wayne was going out of town the next morning. Didn't think being alone after that was a good thing. I have it on the top of my Netflix queue, and am thinking of deleting it out of my queue. But then I think, how dumb is that Brandy? Just watch the darn thing! :)
Love your "resolutions" btw.

No resolutions - but eat better, drink less, run more, etc.

I started reading your blog a while back through a link someplace...melting mama maybe. Anyway, I wanted to say hi, since we seem to have a lot in common - I am libertarian-leaning (though growing more liberal in my "old" age), and I am having RNY myself on Jan 19th. I am also going back to school in February to begin classes to get my CPA, and personal financial planning is one of my major interests.
So anway...hi!

Brandy - I wouldn't watch it if you're going to be home alone. It's that scary! Seriously.
Rhi - Glad I'm not the only one resolving to be less of a lush.
Kelly - Welcome. Good luck with your surgery!

Love the list. I think that is a great idea. This year I plan to really get in shape for once in my life. I plan to get into a good exercise routine and keep it up all year. Usually I work out until about August and then gain steadily until Dec. But, since this is the last year in my 30's (gah!) I want to work on exercise so I am fit by the time I am 40.

We watched "The Strangers" (a few years old) and it scared the CRAP out of me so much that I did not sleep AT ALL last night. I'm thinking "Paranormal Activity" will really do me in.
Happy New Year! My "resolution"---cut down on the chocolate. :)

JMH - You actually make it to AUGUST every year? That's 7 months longer than the rest of us.
Alison - I'll have to watch "The Strangers" next. I'm already good and freaked out still from "Paranormal Activity!"

Yeah, for some reason, it is easier for me t work out in the spring/summer. I am a teacher, so when Aug. comes around, I start getting really busy and stressed out and fall off of the exercise wagon. Then I tend to eat my way to Christmas. :)

Resolutions for me?
Cash: do more, spend less (I want to do more outdoor activities that are free and keep the family moving.)
Food: eat healthier (no diets here either -- just need to eat more fruits and veggies, fewer brownies)
Also Food: cook more, eat out less
House: Keep it clean (I go through periods when I just can't get off my ass to keep it decluttered and clean. This year, I'm gonna do it!)
Happy 2010!

Love it! I'm also on a move more, eat less weight loss plan. So far it's going well.

hot&tired - The only way I can ever keep my house clean is to invite people over, so I should probably start doing that more often before the crust on my kitchen floor becomes permanent.
Laylabean - good luck! So far I'm definitely drinking less, but substituting with peppermint ice cream, which may or may not defeat the purpose.
