How come my children get so DIRTY in the summer? I had given Genoa a bath in the morning, but by bedtime she was already too crusty for the sheets. This was her first sink bath in this house (why use the sink when I have the huge tub upstairs?!) and she LOVED it and didn't want to get out.
Yesterday it was H.O.T. here, almost 100 degrees and they're predicting the same for today. Alex had soccer camp from 11:30 to 12:30 and before noon, his coach walked him back over to me saying he didn't look good. Alex hung out with us in the shade with about as much energy and personality as a wet towel. After ten minutes and zero improvement, we packed up and went home to the air conditioning. He perked up as soon as he time to cool off, so I guess he's genetically predisposed to DESPISE hot weather, like his father, grandmother, great grandmother and so on.
We met Tonya and Kendall at the park and they followed us home
We spent the afternoon moving as little as possible and talking as much as we could while the kids watched the Princess DVD Genoa picked out the other night. I snapped this shot without the kids even knowing it.
Can you say BFF?
Just as the temperature started to peak, I got a call from Alex's T-Ball coach. When I heard his voice, I assumed he was calling to cancel practice that night because of the heat, but instead he told me he was going to surprise the kids by using water balloons instead of softballs at practice. He is SUCH an excellent coach!
Alex thought it was the best T-ball practice in the history of T-Ball.
Genoa had a decent time too.
And somehow I managed to keep my camera dry!

TOO DAMN HOT! Seriously - it's 11 a.m. and it's already too hot in my house.
Anyway, love that Genoa's little hand is on her friend's back. So sweet!

It's hard for those little guys to practice when it's so dang hot outside. My son did the same at one of his basketball practices last spring. Give Alex lots of water before, during, and after practice and it should help.
Cute pictures as always!! :)

Umm... so for sure I'm thinking that the eastern and western sides of the US have flipped climates this year. It's been hot here some days, but never as unbareable as it typically is and the past two weeks it's been in the mid to lower 80's... that's unheard of for August.
I hope you're enjoying it! We're sure enjoying the beautiful weather here :O)

There is a great chinese food restaurant about 3 exits from the zoo. Its called China Rim. We brought chinese clients of my husband there and they said it was authentic Shanghai style. The food is so good. Its located on Barnes just before Cornell in Portland. Good Luck. If you want company give us an email!

I was in your neck of the woods for vacation last week and can vouch for the fact that it was HOT. And I came from Houston to get some nice Pacific Northwest cool weather!!!!!! But it was still nicer outside than in the sauna we call home and we had a blast. But next time, could you arrange some proper seasonal weather for us? 'Preciate ya.
