I never write about politics, mainly because finding myself right of center means I only tend to lose friends when I open my big fat pie hole and voice my opinion. But in light of the DNC and all the hype about the election, I'm feeling the need to get something off my chest.
There is no "correct" way to vote.
Let me just repeat that:
THERE IS NO CORRECT WAY TO VOTE.
You can call me lame; you can call me fat; you can tell me I'm a horrible writer; but please, whatever you do, PLEASE don't assume I am STUPID because I vote Republican. (Yes, I'm voting for McCain.) I would never ever, not in a million years, assume that the reason you want to birth Obama's love child is because you are stupid or misinformed. It's just because you and me? We're DIFFERENT! Who knew!?
And that's totally okay.
You go on with your bad liberal self! More power to you! I'll be over here with my NRA membership and my BRING BACK CAPITALISM bumper sticker. We can co-exist peacefully as long as I respect your opinion and you respect mine. We're cool, you and me.
When you judge me for the fact that my belief system is DIFFERENT from yours? THE TERRORISTS WIN.
So the thing I want to BEG you for over the next six months is that you not assume ANYONE is stupid. Everyone has REASONS why they vote the way they vote and almost 100% of those reasons are based on VALUES. My values are NOT stupid. They're MINE and they're probably different from yours, but I would really truly appreciate it if you just give me the benefit of the doubt. I PROMISE to give it right back to you, no matter who wins come November.
