Aside from the knowledge that if anything ever happened to my kids, my world would implode, I find that the most difficult parenting days I have are the days when I feel like crap.
Like today.
I caught some nasty intestinal bug that has me feeling about as great as a squashed bug. The kids are driving me CRAZY. I find that when I'm sick, I somehow lose the ability to be a compassionate human being. I yell too much, get off my butt too little (except for to run to the bathroom!) (again), and generally make life miserable for everyone involved. But moms don't get sick days. (Or performance bonuses. Or 401(k)'s. I think it's time to renegotiate my contract!)
So on days like today, my only goal is to Do No Harm.
I'm not sure I'm cutting it.
Genoa would NOT nap. At all. She finally fell asleep nursing at around 4:30 and slept for an hour, but I spent the ENTIRE afternoon trying to get my children to sleep so I could lay my head (and my intestines) down for a little shut-eye. It never happened.
Dave won't be home until after 9:00.
Fortunately, lack of nappage equals early bedtimes. Hopefully for all of us.
that's why god made benadryl.

Maybe your husband can call in sick so you can sleep all day tomorrow. Sounds like you could use a day off, if that's possible. Feel better soon and don't feel guilty about sitting the kids in front of the TV if it earns you some peace and quiet.

Yeah, doesn't it suck how when you have kids, you don't get sick days anymore? I hope you feel better soon!
