Not to detract from the giddy school girl tone of my last post, but June? CAN SUCK IT.
We've had the heater on for something like two weeks. I'm sitting here in my kitchen wearing full-body fleece, fuzzy socks AND slippers. And I still have hives. (I'm allergic to the cold, remember?)
June, in my mind, means SUMMER. I should be shoving the kids out the back door wearing nothing but sunscreen and not hearing from them for an hour. In California, you could practically bet your firstborn on the fact that every. single. day. in June will feature at least some sun, that it won't rain a single, solitary drop from May through September.
Here? I've only watered my garden a handful of times. It's always soaked from the rain.
People warned me I would hate the cold, wet winters in Washington or that I would get seasonal depression. If any season here depresses me, I'm pretty sure it's summer, not winter. Some days are LOVELY and it is nice that it's not too hot, but consistency, THAT'S what these summers lack. Washington weather, itself, is what's manic depressive!
Anyway, this too shall pass. We're having our big Washington Day Party this Saturday and SO HELP ME, the sun better shine.
I KNOW! We are up near Vancouver and we're having the same weather as you. Rain, rain, rain, rain. Our kids were in the pool for the last half of May and haven't been in it once this month. You're right, that sun better shine on Saturday because we're having a party too.

Southern CA weather isn't holding up well this June - we've actually had rain (RAIN!) just last week.

In the near 37 years of my life, I can never remember a June like this, and I have lived in the Seattle area my entire life. My theory is that because it was a mild winter this past winter we will have a mild summer as well. We'll see, I just hope it kicks in soon, school gets out next week.

You shouldn't judge the PNW by this spring and last winter. It was a weird winter and a freezing cold and wet spring. Don't get me wrong, weather ain't great here, but I can't remember a June like this one. I completely agree... June can suck it! Hang in there, August will be awesome!

Oh my gosh, I KNOW! I live about 1.5 hours north of Seattle, and I am sick of it being in the FORTIES and raining. What the heck? It is June, right?

I was up there last week, and I heard someone say it was Juneuary..I thought that was fitting! I have to say I like California more!

I feel ya. I live in Northern Montana and am very tired of rain and SNOW in JUNE. I want at least a little sun. Even just one hour a day of sun would be fine with me.
Good luck. Some day it will warm up.

I hate to rain on your parade of commentors (ha), but I lived in Western WA for 14 years and we ALWAYS joked that summer began after July 4th. And you only get one week of consistently warm weather, and it's either the 2,3, or 4th week of August. I know what you mean about being cold - we would have to wash sheep for the county fair in mid-July, and there were a couple of times that in the course of the 10 day fair, we'd be out there washing in wool sweaters (I KID YOU NOT) and then 4 days later in tank tops. It's horrible. I feel for you.

Welcome to the Wet Coast! It has been unseasonably cold this year but this is typical weather for these parts. I grew up in Vancouver, BC now Victoria and it aint much better. If you want some nice HOT weather go to eastern WA for a weekend it's beautiful and can get nice and hot.

I've lived here for 7 years and this is definitely NOT normal. Summers in Washington are usually gorgeous. This 50 degrees and raining thing can suck it.

You have my complete and utter sympathy. We had hideous, big FAT rain here yesterday and it was all things horrid (it also did most of it on my head).
Granted such things are more likely for a Scottish "summer", but that doesn't make them any less annoying!
Hang in there, the laws of averages and geography mean the sun is bound to come out soon!
:)

I think I have complained everyday since November that I am sick of the wet and the cold. Despite the fact that I've lived in WA almost all my life I still cannot stand being chilled. I am tired of long sleeves and hoodies. I really am. I need sun. I need those vitamins. It would be nice to have a tan before September.
