Pay it forward.

GRAVY

  • My first novel started with a mole. Yes, a MOLE - a freckle, a birthmark, whatever you want to call it.
  • I was at the pool with my daughter getting ignored by our swim instructor when a lifeguard with a particularly ripped abdomen walked by. He stopped to flirt with one of the female lifeguards and my eyes flew directly to an adorable mole on the top can of his six-pack.
  • "How cute!" I thought (among other things). "He looks like a character in a romance novel!"
  • So I went home and started writing fiction for the first time. That was over a year ago and I still haven't been able to stop. GRAVY is the story of a suburban housewife who wants another baby, but gets a man with a mole instead.
  • GRAVY is now available on Kindle and Nook!

Congrats! I'm so happy for you! I was hoping they would turn up eventually in your unpacking, and I'm so glad that they did. Have a fantastic Valentine's Day!

Sarah

OH Amanda! I am so pleased for you, i have even shed a tear! Funny how these things make me so emotional because 1) I don't know you! and 2) I'm sitting at a computer half a world away... but anyway I am so pleased. I have worked for many years at a jewelery shop and my favorite day is when I help a couple find 'The Ring'. I bet dave is happy you found yours! Happy valentines day.

Hooray! I read the full story and I know what you mean--it's not the monetary value that's really the most distressing (unless, I guess, you're dropping 5 digits or more) but the memories and the fact that nothing can really replace them ever. My rings aren't worth a ton but I love them dearly. Oh, and even after Pea was born I couldn't wear my rings for a while and cashiers at the grocery store used to look at my naked fingers and pointedly say all kinds of inappropriate things like, "you take REALLY good care of that baby, you hear? Babies are a lot of WORK you know"--like all single moms are deadbeats and users.

Must be Motherhood

Oh, how fabulous! And a truly magical Valentine's Day surprise.
This gives me hope that a pretty pricey ring I dropped in our car (yes, IN THE CAR) a few years ago might still turn up. You've given me hope. Horrah!
