We've spent the past two days waiting for my car(s). Our final deal with Nissan was subject to them repairing a tiny scratch on my passenger's side bumper and they've been trying to fix it and we've been waiting (and eating donuts!) until it's done. They couldn't buff out the scratch, so now they've got my car until Monday to repaint the bumper and we're driving a minivan in the meantime. The part I actually wanted to talk about was that the rental-car place had one of those cheesy serenity fountains in the waiting area. I told Alex what it was and when he repeated it back to me, verbal whiz that he is, it ALWAYS came out: "Fa-Mountain," not "Fountain," no matter how hard he tried. I couldn't stop laughing.
To recap Halloween as promised, it was a blur of lion-y goodness. We hosted a pumpkin decorating party at Grandma's house on Friday, went to a HUGE (and poorly organized) playgroup party on Sunday, trick or treated in downtown Willow Glen on Monday morning, attended Dave's office party that noon and did a build-your-own-pizza-slash-go-trick-or-treating-thing back at my mom's again Monday night. We are all Halloween'd out now and I'm beginning to question why we teach young children that looking cute and saying the right things will garner you free candy. It's one hell of a precedent come November 1st. At least in two-year-old land.
Yesterday in a moment of desperation (I've been looking for boots for WEEKS), I finally broke down and bought some of those cheesy, furry, uggish boots that are all the rage now. But I realized when I got them home that I am almost thirty, pregnant and not completely ridiculous, so they are going back to Old Navy tomorrow. My mom also bought Alex his first pair of cowboy boots, which, particularly when tucked into sweatpants, are the most adorable thing I've ever seen. I'll have to take a picture.
