Thankfully, Alex is finally starting to feel better. He's gone from screaming while peeing to just whimpering. The urologist seems to think his foreskin is a bit too tight at the tip, which can lead to various problems including painful urination. We've been prescribed some steroid cream* that should help stretch the skin and relieve the problem. We see her again in a month to check on his penis progress.
Have I mentioned I'm really not in love with this whole working mom thing? When I'm with Alex, I'm worried about work. When I'm at work, I'm worried about Alex. It's really a no-win situation that leaves me feeling about as laid-back as an elephant on a tightrope! My nails are bitten down to stubs and nothing holds my concentration for more than 30 seconds! But! If I use exclamation points! It sounds much! better! than! it! is!
* Every time I think about this, I can NOT stop picturing that SNL commercial for Steve Martin's All-Natural Penis Beauty Cream. That was some comedy gold.

I still don't understand why we can't conceptualize this whole "foreskin is a bit too tight" as a "penis is a bit too large" problem.

I'm with David.
Bear's foreskin is remarkably, uh, well... the point is that we had a similar problem here.
I SO am feeling for you. SO.

Sorry about the little tyke. Don't worry about being a working mom, if you're enjoying it. It's not any better if you stay at home full time because then you worry about not providing the right activities, or something else. You may be a better mother because you get frequent breaks from him. No matter what you do or don't do, if you're a mother you're stretched to the limit, and it's hard to be in the moment.
