I promise, promise, promise that this is the last post about the election. I'm serious this time. I HATE political posts. I really, really do. I just needed to get this out of my system.
I'll leave you with one two three four comments:
- I'm really, really getting tired of seeing this map. I don't understand why everyone is so scared of Christians. I swear people would be less offended if the 59 million who voted for Bush were Islamic Fundamentalists. Seriously. 8 out of 10 people you know love Jesus. Me? I am agnostic to the point of almost being atheist, pro-choice and totally neutral on the gay marriage issue (I have a gay sister and I plan a mean wedding - call it self interest). And yet, I still managed to vote for Bush based on values. I can't imagine I'm alone on this either. So, I present this map as evidence that Bush supporters aren't all "radical christian right".
- If you voted for Kerry and now you're busy wasting time pouting about it and threatening to move to Canada, SUCK IT UP!!! I've been conservative my entire adult life and I've pretty much always lived in crack-pot liberal capital of the world. In the city of San Francisco, over 80% of the vote went to Kerry. I'm so used to never getting my way that it doesn't even occur to me to bitch about it. Welcome to my world.
- Newsflash: just because someone votes differently than you doesn't mean they are stupid. I am so sick of people who think that with just a bit more education and lot less religion, everyone would eventually come around to their way of thinking and become Democrats. Get over yourselves. Seriously. And, if the "uneducated, fat, wal-mart shoppers" vote conservatively, it's only because they haven't wasted four years of their lives being brainwashed by America's elite army of liberal college professors. (In college? Even though I made ZERO long-term friends, every student I shared a class with knew my name. That Amanda. That loudmouth. The one with her hand ALWAYS in the air. The one who bucked vociferously against institutionalized brainwashing. The one who challenged the professors to prove that their beliefs were based just as much on values as hers were? Yeah. That was me.) And, as impossible as it may seem, different people can look at the same exact data and draw different conclusions based on their individual perspective and yes, their values. And THAT is what makes this country great. We don't all have to think alike.
- If you thought electing Kerry would bring about ever-lasting world peace and harmony, you were sadly mistaken. The fact of the matter is that we've PURPOSELY gone and designed a government that moves about as fast molasses on a snow day. We could've elected Barney and it wouldn't have made that big of a difference. As always, it's about picking the better of two evils.
A Giant Douche or a Turd Sandwich? I figure at least the sandwich has some lettuce.

Now, Amanda. You know I love you dearly, and this is your journal, so I'll try to leave you be as much as I can.
However, for us liberal-Kerry-Voting Dems, brainwashed by college profs, who are in your audience, don't you think we might take a wee bit of offense to your post? Statements such as "uneducated, fat, wal-mart shoppers" have never passed my lips, as I'm fat AND a walmart shopper. Not everyone who lost the election has resorted to name calling. It seems to me that there are just as many generalizations from the Right as they claim are from the Left.

Sorry, I should've linked to the following for clarification. I was trying not point any fingers, though.

okay that didn't work - the study she linked to is here:

I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone, least of all YOU. This post was more dedicated to the people in my office, who (hopefully) don't even read this blog. I just get SO SO sick of being made to feel stupid and being looked down upon because of my political views. I swear one woman in my office wouldn't even look me in the eye all last week. I needed to vent!!

You know, its amazing. Three of my colleagues at the office haven't spoken a word to me since the election. They act like I'm not there. I can't imaging treating Clinton supporters in a similar fashion after the 96' election. I agree with you Amanda. Suck it up already!
I swear, if I hear one more disgruntled democrat say one more time that they just didn't do a good enough job educating us conservative dumbasses, I will hurl. What do they want to do? Throw is in re-education camps? (Don't answer that. It's not like in the last 50 years, millions haven't been force into such facilities under far left regimes.)
It really is so condescending, so "Liberal Supermacist" with a heaping side order of superiority complex, for one to assume that they are so obviously correct in their thinking. You know, those same people who brought you "Diversity, it's not just for breakfast anymore" and "Tolerance, it's what's for dinner."
I hear more people fret about Radical Christian Fundamentalists than Radical Islamic Fundmantalists when it's the latter that want to saw your head off while gleefully proclaiming "God is great!" Oh, and all those progressive, correct thinking liberals who embrace and promote the feminist agenda, abortion and gay rights? They will be advanced to the front of the head removal line.
I've also seen that Jesusland map around on various blogs and its amazing what religious bigots many on the tolerant left are. I see a zillion negative and condescending remarks about the religious character of the red states.
Imagine if I posted a map of the world and divided it into Judeo Christian (Blue) and Islamic (Red) nations. Imagine further that a bunch of people on the right were posting comments reflecting how ignorant and backwards these Red nations were and how much better off we would be if we could just make them go away. Can you imagine the outcry from those diversity loving people on the left? Those same tolerant people spewing bigotry against Christians on that Jesusland map would be up in arms citing broad principles of tolerance, diversity and respect for the different core set of values and beliefs held by Muslims in the Red nations.
